Ana Karime, the first Mexican to obtain a coveted Michelin star

In January 2019, Ana Karime became the first Mexican to ever get a Michelin star, for the restaurant Gucci Osteria in Florence, Italy, and is to appear in the 2020 Italian Michelin Guide edition.

But Who is Ana Karime? She was born in Queretaro 36 years ago. She eventually moved to Paris to study French and Arts. Instead, she fell in love with gastronomy and decided to go to Spain to do her culinary training. Before the Gucci Osteria restaurant, she worked with René Redzepi in the culinary school Noma.

Since her beginnings, she has worked with Enrique Olvera in Pujol, has teamed up with chef Virgilio Martinez in the Central restaurant in Lima, Peru. With her experience, Karime was able to lead the restaurant in Florence.


In the Gucci Osteria restaurant, service is limited for a quorum of 50 persons a day. Food consists in classic Italian dishes, such as Tortellini of Parmigiano Reggiano, Tand ostadas inspired by the Peruvian ones.

Nowadays, Karime is in charge of creating and innovating specialties, and supervises the kitchen personnel.
